Pentium MMX 166 Adventures and woes
Last July saw the acquisition of yet another vintage PC for tinkering and retro gaming. It will and has been a gateway into MS-DOS and Windows 9x stuff. Even perhaps earlier versions of Windows later on.
Early on however, I have encountered technical difficulties such as setting up the cf to ide hard disk properly and get things running as they should. I have finally managed to get sound, video and of course the hard disk to support my 4 gig compact flash card via LBA in the BIOS.
In the future, I am considering perhaps obtaining a better sound card for MIDI and sound playback. In addition to that, the idea of obtaining a 3DFX card has been floating around. The roadblock as I am writing this is funding. Though I have partially solved that via household chores and errands.
