The Macintosh Plus
A piece of history for the rest of us
I have obtained a Macintosh Plus earlier this year and if I remember correctly, sometime around late February. Back then I at least wanted to own a piece of history that has become so iconic with the history of technology and the whole world.
This particular Macintosh Plus has an interesting story behind it’s life concerning what the original owner had done. Firstly, it was not a Macintosh Plus in the first place but was upgraded from a stock 128K Macintosh and the old model number reveals it was manufactured in the first five weeks of 1984!
I did went and took the liberty and up the ram from 2 to 4 megabytes which is the max it can handle. I also went and purchased a kiengston system saver which is a fan on top to prevent the computer from overheating while on and a SCSI to SD adapter to have all of my system software functioning. Along with that I have even bought a floppy emulator to use disk images that I have downloaded online to use to play older games without too much hassle.
Of course, I have had a few hiccups here and there but were easily remedied. One of which is a strange yet infrequent effect on the screen which was solved by readjusting the video cord connected to the logic board. As far as using the floppy emu as a hard disk emulator, I decided to just use my aforementioned SCSI to SD drive and that worked just gold.
