The Power PC couple

Two new PowerPC based macintoshes have been acquired earlier ago and both represent varying speed, times and OS architecture. The first being a Power Mac G4 Quicksilver and the latter a Power Macintosh 7600.

Over the brief time I have possessed the two Macs, some upgrades have been done. One of which is installing a G3 PowerLogix accelerator card which is up to 300 megahertz and pulling ram from a previously owned Performa 6360. I have also added a video card on top though as of late, I see little use aside from improving video capabilities. I have also swapped a PCI USB and firewire card to better copy and transfer files and software to and from the antiquated platform.

Despite the many wonderful joys I have experienced with these older systems, there had been a handful of quirks and frustrations that yet again demonstrate that such hobby is meant for the patient and understanding of history.
